Compare Wikipedia and Grokipedia on the same topic

Search once. Read the community encyclopedia next to the AI encyclopedia. Wikithat does not pick a winner — it puts both extracts where you can see the difference.

Two encyclopedias, one question

Wikipedia is written and reviewed by volunteers and expects claims to carry citations. Grokipedia, launched by xAI in October 2025, generates articles with the Grok model. Same subject, different factory. The gap shows up in sourcing, tone, and what each page chooses to emphasize.

Opening two tabs and scrolling is a bad way to see that gap. Wikithat fetches both articles for the title you picked and sits them on one desk. You can start with Elon Musk, Climate Change, or Bitcoin— or search anything Wikipedia can resolve.

We are not a rewrite of either encyclopedia and we are not affiliated with Wikimedia or xAI. The long-form notes from our own side-by-sides live in Wikipedia vs Grokipedia: the 2026 comparison.

How a comparison is built

The page you get is the two source articles plus a labeled AI note — not a third encyclopedia we wrote.

  1. 01

    Search a real article title

Type two or more characters. Suggestions come from Wikipedia’s OpenSearch API so you land on a page that actually exists, not a guess.

  2. 02

    Read both extracts together

We load the Wikipedia summary from Wikipedia’s public REST API and the matching Grokipedia article through our backend, then put the two texts on one screen.

  3. 03

    Use the verdict, then decide

An optional Grok note flags differences in tone, sourcing, and emphasis. That note is AI-generated, labeled, and cached. The encyclopedia text itself is not ours.

What we show — and what we will not

The source text

Wikipedia extracts and Grokipedia articles as fetched. We truncate long pages for the card view and link out to the original article on each platform.

A labeled Grok note

When both sides load, Grok writes a short comparison of those extracts. It is automation, disclosed as automation, and stored so the same topic is not billed twice in a week.

No house ranking

We do not score “truth.” You can vote which source you trust on that topic; the vote stays in your browser. For the method in smaller steps, see the how-to guides.

Questions people ask before they search

What is Wikithat?

Wikithat is a free comparison desk that puts the Wikipedia article and the Grokipedia article for the same topic on one screen. You search, we fetch both sources, and you read them side by side. No account is required.

What is Grokipedia?

Grokipedia is an AI-generated encyclopedia launched by xAI in October 2025. Articles are written by the Grok model rather than by volunteer editors. That is why tone, sourcing, and coverage often differ from Wikipedia on the same subject.

How does a Wikithat comparison work?

You pick a topic from search suggestions. We load the Wikipedia summary from Wikipedia’s public REST API and the matching Grokipedia article through our own backend, then show both extracts together. An optional Grok verdict points out differences; that verdict is AI-generated and labeled as such.

Is Grokipedia more accurate than Wikipedia?

Not as a rule. Wikipedia usually has inline citations and volunteer review built over more than two decades. Grokipedia is often shorter and faster to scan, but individual claims are harder to verify. Accuracy depends on the topic — that is why we show both instead of declaring a winner.

Do I need an account to compare articles?

No. Search and comparison are public. Votes on which source you trust are stored in your browser, not behind a login.

Is Wikithat affiliated with Wikipedia or Grokipedia?

No. Wikithat is independent and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to the Wikimedia Foundation or xAI. We display their public articles so you can compare them; we do not write those articles.

More background is on the About Wikithat page, including how we fetch articles and how to reach us.
